Condemnation mentality has caused many Christians today not to live the life God has called them to live. They still have doubts in their heart, if God has truly forgiven them their sins. They still carry condemnation mentality everywhere and are still feeling guilty of their past wrongs.
The Devil has really used this weapon on many Christians today who don’t know who they are in Christ Jesus and what He has done for them on the cross, that’s why they are still tossed back and forth by the Devil on a particular act which they have been struggling with. The Devil knows that if he can get you through the condemnation mentality, he has succeeded in manipulating your life because you start to ‘feel’ like God is distant from you and you ‘feel’ like God is not happy with you.
He brings the picture of an ‘angry God’ to you mind. It’s just a feeling anyways, it’s not the truth. The truth is God is not far from you neither His He angry at you! God is not angry at me? Yes He is not. It’s not I who said it but God Himself.
Isaiah 54: 9-10 “To me this is like the days of now”, this is God speaking “when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never will I rebuke you again…my unfailing love for you not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed…” To some persons this is a hard truth to believe because a bulk of today’s message talks about how God always angry at you whenever you do wrong and always ready to punish you for such wrongs.
Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) says: “let us therefore approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may find mercy and grace to help us in our time of need”. God is telling you to approach His throne with confidence- without any sense of guilt or condemnation; in other words, walking majestically to the Father, not like an abuse dog coming to the master.
You now have access to the Father because of Jesus! In that state of your failure or mistake, God has not condemn you, so stop condemning yourself! He is saying to you “come to me with confidence”; Jesus has done it all, Hallelujah!!! I love the way the Amplified version puts it: Hebrews 4:16 “let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
Wow! You are the one who needs mercy, but God is telling you “my son, my daughter come to me walking with confidence and boldness”. The sacrifice of Jesus has given us eternal access to the presence of the Father even when we make a mistake (see Colossians 1:21&22). When you know that God has not and will not condemn you for whatever failure you have made; that alone is an empowerment. The next time the Devil comes bringing accusations against you, you can face Him without any sense of guilt or condemnation.
I don’t know how you are feeling right now, because am full of joy writing this, am happy. Do you know that all condemnation you are supposed to face, God has already put them on Jesus and He has nailed it to the cross? Romans 4:25, NIV: “He (Jesus) was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification”-. God raised Him up from the dead because we are all justified.
Let us take a look at an interesting event that took place in the Bible in the Book of John 8:1-11, in this passage you see how our the Lord Jesus Christ gave the woman caught in the act of adultery the gift of no condemnation. He looked into her eyes and asked her “woman where are those accusers of yours? Has no one accuse you?” she said “no one, Lord” and Jesus said to her, “neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more” some persons will read this and say “are you saying that we should continue to sin?” NO.
Jesus gave that lady something that she will never ever forget. I’m sure if this matter is brought before some persons they will so castigate her, and at the end they haven’t solved the issue. Your knowledge and application of the Truth will make you live a victorious Christian life. You need to remind yourself everyday of this wonderful gift that God has made available to you through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Because from time to time we will make mistake and the Devil will want to capitalize on that but you need to remind yourself that “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”.
Your Savior, who has fulfilled the law on your behalf, says to you “where are those who condemn you? Neither do I condemn you. Now you can go and sin no more”. What an empowerment, this is grace, my friend. Jesus has taken your condemnation to the cross. Now, you can go and sin no more. Listen to what Jesus said after giving her the gift of no condemnation- John 8: 12 (God’s Word) “Jesus spoke to the Pharisees. He said ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have a life filled with light and will never live in the dark”.
When you follow Jesus, becoming Jesus conscious and not sin conscious, you have life in you and you will never live nor walk in darkness. The more Spirit conscious you are the more life and peace you experience. That is our Savior. You must know this; God does not want you to sin because sin will destroy you. But even if, peradventure you fail, you must know this: there is now no condemnation because you are in Christ Jesus and your sins are washed away by His blood once and for all!
One last scripture before I wrap it up, Romans 8: 1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (NIV). Do you notice that this verb ‘is’ is in the present tense? Right now, even if you fail, because at one point or the other you may fail, but don’t have that condemnation mentality. Did you just do something you feel disappointed about? Or perhaps you ‘feel’ God is angry with you?
There IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION, Why? Because you are in Christ Jesus. God has not condemned you because you are in Christ Jesus. Even when sinful thoughts come to your mind you should never entertain them. As long as you are still in this body they would come, but His grace is sufficient for you.
Sin cannot take root in your life anymore because you are now full of the consciousness of Jesus’ righteousness in you. You can’t stop birds from flying over your roof but you can stop them from building a nest there. In the same way, you cannot stop temptation, sinful thoughts and desires from passing through your mind but you can certainly stop yourself by His grace from acting on them.
Knowing that God loves you unconditionally despite your shortcomings and imperfection would help you a lot. Always boast about His love for you even when your mind tells you otherwise. He knows you are not perfect that’s why He chose you. God is not looking at your failure from the moment you accepted Christ as your Savior, God sees you in the risen Christ, seated at His right hand (1 john 4:17), just like Jesus is spotless and blameless, so are you!
Right now, when you call on Jesus your Redeemer, God sees you as perfect in Him. He is not condemning you for your past, present and even future mistakes because God’s wrath was satisfied on the cross. You are now free to sin no more and experience His grace on every weakness in your life!
