Understanding the Purpose of Singleness

Just as the saying goes “when the purpose of a thing is not known, the abuse of it is inevitable”. Can we attest to the fact that this is true even in the lives of many young men and women out there? Can we say that a lot of young folks out there are abusing the privilege of experiencing the blessedness of singleness? If that’s the case there is a need for single folks to be enlightened on what it means to be single and maximise the period of singleness to the fullest.

Everything in God’s creation has or I should say serves a purpose. There is nothing God created that doesn’t serve a purpose. Just because we don’t know about it doesn’t make it void. Also, every phase of our living as human serves a purpose and the earlier we begin to understand this the more advantage we will have in walking in the fullness of God’s plans for our lives. There are certain things we must learn at every stage of our living – childhood to adulthood, to enable us to make the best use of all that God has destined us for.

There is a need for us to learn what it means to be “single” so as to help us grow into better men and women in the society. What we see in our society today is that a lot of young folks leave life without a sense of direction, purpose and without the future in consideration. They barely understand what it means to be “single”. The period of singleness is a very crucial stage for every young man and woman out there. It is a foundation for the future you have desired to have. This is the stage where you make conscious decisions and deliberate actions in regards the future you have always hoped for. This is not the stage where you leave things to time and chance, for time and chance only happen to people who are never prepared and do not take deliberate actions for a glowing future.

At this point in once life, conscious decisions and deliberate actions should be once guiding principles. If you don’t want to live the remaining part of your life regretting things you should have done when you were young, now is the time to get things right. Now is the time to start making the deposits for future withdrawals. I don’t know what your dreams are, what you have envisioned or what your purpose is or the kind of home (family) you desire, but one thing I’m assured of is that, if you don’t maximise your singleness, achieving that dream or purpose may nearly become an impossibility. That’s why I decided to share with you few insights that I believe will help you reassess your aims and start making the best use of your singleness.

To be continued…
