He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much (Luke 16:10, NKJV.)
It is the desire of many to be at the top of their endeavour in life. Many want to get to the top of the organization or reach the climax of what their hands have found to do without considering going through the ladder. I strongly believe that if there was a way for many to reach the top without having to go through the processes, they will be glad and happy about it. But is that a better way?
You see, God is not just concerned about you having uncountable but he wants you to be accountable for the uncountables. The reason many are yet to reach their climax is that they are yet to be found faithful in the little God has committed into their hands.
What are you doing with the little He has given to you? Have you gone to hide it just like the man who was given one talent? (see Matt 25:25). Many out there are just like this man, we hide, we bury it under the ground because we feel it is worth nothing. We don’t see why we should kill ourselves over the little things that have been committed into our hands. Many of us admire the five talent man, but if we are given one talent we hiss and go away sad. We just want to wake up one morning and find ourselves at the top! It’s impossible! Your faithfulness in little things must be proven before more can be committed into your hands.
The beautiful thing about the man given one talent is that if he was faithful, that is, make do with what he was given, that one talent could multiply! Matthew 25: 14: …each according to his ability. The reason why he had five talents was that he had the ability for it. In other words, he has built the capacity to handle five talents. The secret to having five talents is not by fasting and praying, but your willingness to accept more responsibilities. The more we run away from responsibilities, the more we won’t be able to build capacity to handle more talents.
If one talent has been given to you now, it is because God wants to build your capacity to handle five talents! Many who don’t see it this way grumble and murmur against another who seems to do well more than they in the same field of endeavour. You don’t have to be jealous that you are not yet making visible progress, all you just need to do is to be faithful in that which you are doing right now. Your faithfulness must be proven before you can be entrusted with five talents.
Proverbs 22: 29: do you see people skilled in their work? They will work for kings, not for ordinary people (NCV). Your faithfulness in little things will always bring about increase and expansion.
